Subject Description

  • Language A: Language and Literature (English)

This course explores language, literature, and the power of communication through the study of various texts, including novels, plays, poetry, and non-fiction. Students analyze how language shapes meaning and identity in different cultural and historical contexts, while honing their own skills in writing and oral communication. By fostering critical thinking and creativity, the course helps students develop a deep understanding of the role of language in shaping the world around them.

  • Language B: German

Designed for students with previous experience in German, this course focuses on language acquisition and intercultural understanding. Through listening, reading, writing, and speaking activities, students build proficiency in communication while exploring German-speaking cultures. The course emphasizes practical language use in real-world contexts, preparing students for global engagement and future academic or professional endeavors.

  • Business Management

This subject introduces students to the fundamental principles of business operations in a global context. Covering topics like marketing, finance, human resource management, and organizational strategy, students learn to apply theoretical concepts to real-world business situations. Through case studies and interactive projects, students gain critical thinking and decision-making skills that prepare them for further study in business or entrepreneurship.

  • Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches (AA)

This rigorous course emphasizes mathematical theory, abstract reasoning, and problem-solving. Suitable for students with strong mathematical skills, it covers topics such as calculus, algebra, and geometry. Students learn to apply mathematical models to real-world problems and develop the analytical tools needed for careers in science, technology, and engineering. The course fosters a deep appreciation for the power and beauty of mathematics.

  • Mathematics: Application and Interpretation (AI)

This branch of mathematics focuses on the practical application of mathematical concepts in real life. It emphasizes the use of mathematical tools to analyze data, model real-world situations, and solve problems in fields such as business, sociology, psychology, environmental studies, and other applied disciplines. Students explore functions, statistics, geometry, basic algebra, and are introduced to the fundamentals of calculus. The course makes extensive use of graphic display calculators. Unlike the AA course, which emphasizes abstract thinking and theoretical depth, this one is centered on real-life application of mathematics in both everyday and professional contexts. It is an ideal choice for students planning to pursue studies and careers in economics, social sciences, design, media, or management, rather than in pure mathematics, physics, or engineering.

  • Physics

Physics explores the fundamental laws of the Universe, from classical mechanics to quantum theory. Students develop strong problem-solving and investigative skills by conducting experiments and applying theoretical knowledge to real-world phenomena. The course emphasizes inquiry and analytical thinking, preparing students for further studies in science, engineering, and technology.

  • Biology

This course dives into the study of life and living organisms, from cellular structures to ecosystems. Students explore topics such as genetics, evolution, and ecology through laboratory experiments and critical analysis. Biology fosters a deep appreciation for the complexity of life and prepares students for careers in the health sciences, environmental studies, or biological research.

  • Theatre

A creative and collaborative course, Theatre allows students to explore acting, directing, and stagecraft. Through practical experience and reflection, students analyze dramatic works and develop their own performances. They study various theatre traditions and learn how to express ideas and emotions through the art of performance. The course encourages confidence, creativity, and effective communication.

  • Theory of Knowledge (TOK)

TOK challenges students to think about how they know what they know. The course explores the nature of knowledge across disciplines, encouraging students to critically examine evidence, methods, and perspectives. By questioning assumptions and understanding different ways of knowing, students develop intellectual curiosity and the ability to make connections between academic subjects and real-world issues.

  • Extended Essay (ЕЕ)

The Extended Essay is an independent research project that allows students to explore a topic of their choice in depth. With guidance from a mentor, students formulate a research question, conduct detailed investigation, and produce a formal academic essay. This experience fosters skills in research, analysis, and self-management, preparing students for the demands of university-level writing and inquiry.

  • CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service)

CAS encourages students to engage in a balanced range of extracurricular activities that promote personal growth and community involvement. Through creative projects, physical challenges, and service initiatives, students develop leadership skills, teamwork, and a sense of responsibility. CAS complements academic learning by fostering well-rounded individuals who are prepared to contribute meaningfully to society.
