Film Week at PIPL Lyceum

From September 14 to 18, PIPL Lyceum held a Film Week — students got to explore cinema from several angles: from a meeting with a professional film critic to their own creative and research projects at the intersection of art and engineering.

Meeting with Film Critic Stanislav Tarasenko

The guest of the week was Stanislav Tarasenko — a Ukrainian film scholar, lecturer, film critic, and art manager for the Planeta Kino cinema chain, well known in cultural circles for his educational work. In a session on "Ukrainian Cinema," he talked to students about the development of Ukrainian film, key movies and names, and how to watch and analyze film not just as entertainment, but as art.

11th Graders: Recreating Shots from "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors"

As part of their art class, 11th-grade students worked with Sergei Parajanov's iconic Ukrainian film "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors" — recreating famous shots from the movie while studying its visual language, composition, and symbolism. This gave them a chance not just to watch a classic of Ukrainian cinema, but to experience it from the inside, through their own creative interpretation.

8th Graders: Studying the Film "Antarctica"

As part of their engineering class, 8th-grade students studied the film "Antarctica", examining it through the lens of the technical and scientific aspects shown on screen. This approach combined the art of film with engineering thinking, offering a fresh perspective on the movie.

Exhibition in the Lyceum Hall

The week concluded with an exhibition of work created within these projects, displayed in the Lyceum's main hall, where everyone could see the results of the 8th and 11th graders' efforts.

Film Week once again showed that art at PIPL Lyceum isn't a separate subject — it's a way of seeing the world that runs through literature, engineering, and everyday life at the Lyceum alike.
